Alert to notify when a GL entry is posted to a date period that does not match the fiscal period. This alert is based on the assumption that you are on a calendar fiscal year.

Overview

Overview

This alert checks daily for postings into a previous month. The alert is based on the assumption that you are on a calendar fiscal year. If you are NOT on a calendar fiscal year, this alert will NOT work for you. If you qualify under the assumption, this alert will make sure that if a previous month is opened and not properly re-closed, your people will not accidentally start posting transactions (mostly voids) into the previous month.

1. The alert checks for new transaction in the past three days that have not reported on the alert yet. 

2. The alert will only report a transaction once.

3. The alert checks for GL entries where the date on the entry (1) does not match the period the transaction will post to (2).

1. Often, the situation this alert is checking for happens when a user re-opens a period to post a specific transaction and then forgets to re-close the period. To open/close a period in e-automate, you go to Accounting - General ledger - Change period:

The pop-up window will show the current open period and the open period for the specific user:
