Overview

Notify your techs to install DCA agent on device. This process uses our DCA tables OR a Custom Property (on Customer Record) you are maintaining to determine if equipment with an existing service call has the designated DCA actively reporting. If not, then adds a note to the call description for tech to install the new agent.

Run Schedule:  every 30-min

Type of Output: Email

Variables

Variables

ID288Variables.png

Variable 1: Enter the Custom Property you have assigned to the Customer Record that would contain the Last Reporting Date from the assigned DCA for this equipment. Leave this variable blank if you intend for us to look into our DCA meter tables for the equipment serial# to see if it's reporting there.

Variable 2: Select the appropriate DCA you have subscribed to from drop down (where we pull down the devices and meter readings ) and you want us to check our table to see if the device on a call is reporting to the specific DCA . This is to help identify when you are deploying a new DCA to replace any current DCA  that the equipment on a call is NOT in our DCA table for the selected DCA source here.

Requires you have one of our DCA API processes successfully running. Be sure this value matches your DCA API subscription(s).

Variable 3: Select the Call Type category(s) you wish this process to update (ie: CM, PM, etc) from drop down.

Variable 4: Enter the string of characters to prepend to the call description

For example, if you enter "**Needs EKM**" in Variable4, then it will show as below for tech:

Alert Functionality

Alert Functionality

1. If you are subscribed to one of our DCA integration subscriptions, then we can check our table for the DCA you specify in Variable2.  If you are not subscribed to one of our DCA integrations, then you must specify the Custom Property in Variable1 you are using on Customer Record indicating the last reporting date from your DCA . If that date is empty then the assumption is the customer does not have the desired DCA agent installed.

2. DO NOT use BOTH Variable1 and Variable2. We will only look to Custom Property listed in Variable1 OR to DCA listed in Variable2 drop down, not both.

3. The process will look for one of two things based on how you set up your variables:

1. If there is not a date value in the Custom Property, then it will add notes to the problem description on pending service call. Some eAuto users manually track devices set up on DCA via Custom Property.

OR

2. If we are connected to the API for your DCA, then we create a table of devices each day. If our DCA table does not have the serial number in it, then it will add notes to the problem description on pending service call. We haven't fully built this feature out, but we will have a number of look back days (potentially a variable/filter option) to find reporting device in the DCA table to ensure we don't falsely report just because a device is temporarily offline. We will also likely add a variable option to ID288 subscription for you to tell us whether to only consider devices marked as "mananged" (for those DCA's providing the data in their API).

We have IDs corresponding to the various DCAs we can collect data from (see screenshot below) via API.

Best Practices & Tips

Best Practices & Tips

1. If you are using Custom Property, best to list on all Customer Record locations (not just Parent) because there are scenarios where you have the DCA installed at one location, but not another.

2. Creating Custom Property for Variable1

Custom Property Set Up

Custom Property Set Up

Step 1:

Via Lists & Codes, go to Attributes, create Attribute, set as Type = Date

Step 2:

Via Lists & Codes, go to Custom Property (configurations), select Customers, add newly created attribute, click Quick Add, with no default value, be sure to select OK:
